I have the vtec solenoid, i took it off so it wouldn't get robbed. The guy i brought it from said he got a hole it his oil pan, and fup the engine. I got the block for free too. One of the pistons is melted!!

The head was bolted onto the block. I bought the head and he give me the whole longblock, so i couldnt see the bottom of the head. I thought it was just super dirty. So i got ripped? How bad?

Read again, he doesn't want to use the block.

As for the head, it's very dirty and looks like it hasn't been taken care of. Thats why I said earlier that it doesnt look very good. From what I have read, most mini-me swappers get the head for about the same price you paid, and i'd be willing to bet that its in better condition.

yeah that head is not worth your time. You said that you got a z6 head, just run that. You also said that you wonna go turbo so use a z6 head because it will give you lower compression then y8 because it got bigger combustion chambers.

Just run the head through a parts cleaner. You'll have to replace your valve seals though.

I just recently bough a Y8 head too. I paid close to 300, but I got everything from engine block up, including aftermarket camshaft, adjustable cam gear and ECU.
I took it to a shop, and had them rebuild it.
$250 later, I had a head that looked like new.
Got it hot-tanked, milled, new valve seals, new cam seals, replaced a bent vale and some other minor stuff.

i would strip the head down and leave it in the hot tank over night. My old z6 looked worse than that. I had to take a puddy knife and scrape the crap off the inside of the valve cover.
