Does everyone still have the stock Splashguard on?
Well, I've seen some guys not running them and being Texas with very little rain and my new air box- I was going to try some things out for airflow and the splash guard is inhibiting me. Besides the fact of a dirtier engine and running a giant thing over and denting my oil pan (not that I couldn't do that already seeing as the splashguard doesnt even go far enough in to reach my header.... well it does but that small parted melted away long ago ) I'm not really seeing many downsides. Just wondering if everyone is still running them and some opinions of things I may have missed. Bad experiences are welcome to convince me otherwise

im pretty sure people who drop/slam their cars remove them to avoid rubbing. If you remove them will this allow rust to form quicker?

From the looks of things, it doesn't protect much. I have no problem spraying a little Simple Green on the block everyonce in a while to keep things clean. As far as where it meets the fender area, I figure that my tires kick up enough water on my coilovers already

it looks like it also protects the engine from water splashes, around the pulley area especially.

im not running any of mine (fenderliners or front splash gaurd) and i drive in the rain and snow, the engine gets dirty but i dont give a **** about my stock engine now anyway, its on its last leg. i will be putting the fenderliners back in when i get a swap but ill still leave the splash gaurd off, i dont think youll have any problems, esp in texas.
also ill phil, comptech got back to me today and they said an Si icebox will bolt in to the eg w/out modification it will just use 2 of the 3 brackets that are included. then they recommend i use the itr intake kit which will also fit w/ no modification, but i think the stock itr arm would work too... the intake kit is way overpriced. i emailed them back asking if the volume and tubing diameters are the same for the Si box as the itr box, so i should find out tomorrow... the Si icebox is item# 330-120 if anyone cares.

the salt and **** that they spred on the roads up north gets into my fenderliners even when they are on, so by having them off i can access the door jams and stuff easier to clean them out,,, soo they dont rust, thats why i dont have my fenderliners in.

I ran w/o one for a awhile and noticed that my engine bay got way dirtier than with it so I put it back. If you don't care about dirt or it doesn't rain, or your big *** aftermarket header hits it, take it off. Not the end of the world.

Yeah, well looks like it will be coming off for the track tomorrow
Euclid- I don't know if you read the other post about the box you posted in the tech forum but I finally got around to looking at the stock ITR location and its right in front of the overflow tank. I should be moving mine to right there and no splashguard will help with some direct air flow there. Won't have to worry about lining it up with the stock hole. I'll see if how my friends stock EK box fits and let you know about that as well.

ahh, i see, so the tube on a cai on a stock itr box wouldnt even have to be going in the hole... and it would leave room for a catch can where the stock eg box was... rubs his chin... i like that.
comptech told me that i would have to relocate the overflow tank too, so the Si box probibly mounts the same way... in that case i think im going diy.
