gsr block... help!
look guys, i apologize for bringing up this again.. but heres the thing.. i bought a gsr motor with no vin number intact.( i promise i did not steal it;have reciept and last owners release). i bought it becuase i was in need of a motor and i drove from san diego to rosemead just to pick up that
motor. its a 00'gsrblock;96'gsr head;95'gsrtranny. here is the i.d. number located under the b18c1 stamp.*5300509*. i was told that the last owners sister in law work with the valencia sherriffs dept and ran that number and was turned out to be clean as i was told.
now here are my questions:
1. is this block really a 00'gsr? (people have been telling me that the first number on the stamp(5) determines what year it was contributed. ex. (1)94'(2)95'(3)96'(4)97'(5)98'(6)99'.. information is based on the integra motors.
2. can i call honda? ( i read a thread a while back saying that you can actually call the honda dealership and give them the i.d. numer [5300509] and they will give you the vin number to that specific motor if its clean.
3. even if the motor is clean, can the cops still take your car?
4. can i obtain a vin number from another block that clean and just use that vin number? (totally wrong and illegal)
5. who can i call to run the i.d. stamp? ( first off, i called the chp and they directed me to the dmv. then the dmv asked for the vin number and i told her there is no vin number and i tired to give her the i.d. stamp number but she said they need the vin number. ***my question is how do you run a motor (obd1) that never came with a vin number???***
this post will be updated with more question.
i really appreciate your help for those who have helped. i know it was stupid of me to buy a motor with no vin number. if anything ill just use that block and build it for my future track car.=]
please keep the negativity away!!! thanks again.

Re: does the engine stamp... help!
well my dad is CHP and i asked him if they would just randomly run a VIN number or ID stamp and he said no...now im not saying you stole that block at all but there are alot of cases were certain crooks are able too basically sand down the block number and give it another ID stamp wit htheri own tools...you can call your honda dealership and give them your ID stamp and see what they come up with...if thats the ID number you got on your Block then ill ask my dad too run that and see if anything comes up

I'm not too sure what you could do about the block numbers and all that... I would be calling honda and seeing what could be done. Not a dealership. Call corperate.
Also, If you're in a state that has very homosexual laws such as Cali. I would be very careful while that motor is not tagged even though you have the paperwork for it, It would be best to avoid a compromising situation.

If that's your engine in the pic, then that's not a B16 head. It has a P72 GSR intake on it. I don't think anyone would go through the trouble of making that intake work on a B16.
