using carbon fiber with resign already in the weave...when done the hood or whatever looks dry because there is no clearcoat or resign on top..
usually lighter and stronger than conventional WET carbon

i tried this on a piece of carbon i had laying around..i wetsanded it with 2000 until the weave poped through then i hit it with a buffer and removed all the left over clear where the paper could not reach..it left the carbon dry looking but im not sure as to what affect of weather will be..it looks very good in my opionion...so i used the piece as a key chain

actually the cabon fiber has resign in it..it has to be chilled so it doesnt' get sticky
and it has nothing to do with sanding the finish off..It has a finish , just not clear coat

Anybody have a picture of this (or prehaps your DIY dry looking setup)? I'd like to see it.
