Default Does anyone make a Brake booster brace for the Civics?

I remember seeing the ITR guys had a brace to support the brake booster/master cylinder that attached to the strut tower and there were plans for the Civic, however I haven't seen anything about this in a very long time....anyone have any information?

doesn't CUSCO make one? Or is this for a DIY type?

D'oh of course. But I still believe they have some for RHD cars. I know for the Subaru guys they make RHD & LHD products depending on what market your in.

One of the R guys was selling homemade ones. It consisted of 3 bolts, some nuts and washers and 2 L brackets from home depot. the type you use to make corners with. you put them together like an L back to back, _|_ then a bolt through each bottom one attaches to your wheel well and a bolt through the upper part you use nuts to tighten it against the MC.

Yeah but, I would also prefer one that went around the Master Cylinder not into it.....risk of puncture is not something I want to deal with going 100 mph into a turn.

You will NOT puncture the MC if you put a brace against it unless you way overtighten it and are using a bolt with a sharp tip on it and just really tighten the **** out of it. What i did was just get the bolt pushing against the MC brace snug against it and put some threadlocker so that i know it wont move under heavy braking (the bolt that is). Works great thus far.

I have been "told" by a machanic that its not a good idea. The point is to not let teh booster shutter at all basically, and he said it needs a little play. Im not saying you can't, just what I was told.
So I am in no way responsable for this comment

When you use the bolt as the brace, put the big ole bolt head against the MC. Something the size of a nickel bracing against the metal MC isnt going to puncture anything.
bad attempt to diagram itignore the .... used as visual spacers )

I like Benen's....the other one bothered me because it was a screw going into the recess in the master cylinder.

Do this with it, instead of the screw end going into the recess, just turn it around so the big bolt head rests against the MC. It doesnt have to rest in the recess because neither part moves very much, so it stays in place and holds it firm.

.......That would work too. I don't own/have not built the part so, no worries yet.

why not just use a cusco/feels/whatever jdm brand upside down? should work the same, just a lil harder to put on.

Thanks for the pic. Any comment on the brace? What is your current brake setup and what type of difference did you notice? Does your car see any track time?

when you push the brake pedal hard, something is going to move. normally this is the rubber brake lines, they expand slightly, and take up the pressure. but when those lines are replaced with stainless steel braided lines, they can no longer expand, so the brake master cylinder moves instead. this brace stops the movement of the MC, giving a crisper, more direct pedal feel, it takes out some of the sloopyness.

not a bad explaination considering its coming from a 17 year old. ha
