Does a 97 Civic LX 5-speed have an Idle Control Sensor?
Do Civics have them? I have a 1997 LX 5 speed. I do not have a CEL on but the idle seems to be off.
With the A/C on, the car idles normally around 900-1000 RPM's. However sometimes it will spike up to 1500-1600 and hold there for about 5 seconds and then drop to normal level.
With the A/C off it stays right at 1500-1600 RPM's all the time. No spiking or anything.
Could this be the sensor?

You have a high idle problem.
The IACV on the back of the IM controls idle speed. Have you tried cleaning it?
Does the CEL work?
Also clean the throttle body and adjust the throttle cable. The latter should have as much as 1/2" of slack.

I was just about to clean the IACV and looked at the write up in your sig. Seems the write up is not for my engine. Here is the engine I have:
From what I gather looking at the engine and searched for the IACV is in the throttle body and the whole piece has to come off and apart. Is this the case?
