Do you have real HID's?
Hey guys. I'm very interested in getting a high-quality headlight system for my EG. So far I haven't been satisfied with any of the "HID" bulbs that so many shops carry. I'm looking for the real thing. So...
I would assume that I would have to change my headlight housings to accomodate an actual system...or maybe not?
For those of you that have experience with this kind of thing on your EG, please share with me what system you used, and how you have liked it.
Thanks

Why get HIDS, when you can change out the housing and make a world of a difference with better lighting with your halogens?
I got the black housing, and im glad I got this instead of Hids.
But TYC + HIDS =

hids are sweet but they dont seem to work well with the stock headlights the light goes everywhere instead of where you want it!

gasper shields wont fix glare. it just makes it so not as much light is hitting your reflectors and therefore less light is actually going OUT of your headlight.

halogens < HID's
for EG's i'd suggest the tyc with HID's also. when i first saw pics i thuoght it was awesome.
i got an EK and im working on my retrofits right now.

Just do a damn retrofit and get if over with.
Casper shields will not prevent glare!
Proper retrofit will not produce glare
HID kit (350) Retrofit($450-900) so just spend the extra cash and save ur self the hassle. not to mention HID kits are illegal

As already stated- HID's are illegal now, you can still get them on the net though. But they suck, my stock bulbs seemed brighter, they glare all over the place... I am doing a retrofit as we speak, its going to be a lot better!! They do look nice as hell though!!! Ill sell you my HID kit, $100 shipped, but one of the ballasts has to be banged on to get it to turn on sometimes??? They have an H4 bulb.

Mine is a "MAX" Xenon HID kit, 8500K. I had it on for about 2.5 years. I bought it at a audio store, back when they were legal, so I would have a 1 year warranty, but I guess that doesnt matter now.

8500k is a lot of unusable light. I wish I could shoot people who put HID's in their car without a proper retrofit. without projectors, you are blinding everyone else on the road.

Re: Do you have real HID's? (IHateJDM)
yeah, 8500k is bullshit, back in the day when I bought them I wanted the "bluest" lights, and I had em, but that was a stupid move. If I knew then what I know now

Re: Do you have real HID's? (preludepower)
Why don't you guys just get the Silvannia HID fog lights? Light output is unreal....great cut off line, and a piece of cake to install.
Here's a pic of em on my old Sol.
Pic of my bay(note you don't see any ballsats, all tucked into the bumper support.)
I would highly recommend this kit. Good luck.

Re: Do you have real HID's? (inline4)
I'm doing an HID retrofit in my eg, swapping out the projectors in a set of Denji's for a pair from the S2000. Wouldnt have it any other way. Non retrofit HID may work in some headlight housings, but it's ghetto as hell. You blind other drivers and are targeted by police, making the world worse for all of us.
