Do you guys get the EG5 in the states?
Hi all,
Do you guys get this hatchback? for those who don't know what it is, it's badged as a Civic Si here in Australia. Comes with front/rear disc brakes. 1.6 DOHC (non-vtec) block.

1.6L DOHC NON-vtec??? Sorry, something's amiss here... What the hell motor would that be? I thought the Aussie EG5 was 1.6L SOHC VTEC.

yeah... the only 1.6L DOHC non-vtec's we ever got were in the 1st gen integras IIRC... d16a1... and the only other one i know of is the ZC...
my guess is whatever motor you guys have is a variation or replacement or whatever for the ZC... and it's probably not available in the US cause of emissions... we never got the original ZC...
like the european and jdm EF si's were 130 hp ZC while we got 108 hp POS.... never mind the SiR...
sorry. just ranting..

I don't know all the EG codes (I only just found out that my car was an EG5).
But the Civics we get here in Australia (EG) are;
From the top of the line to the bottom...
Civic VTi - Sohc 1.6L VTEC EFI
Civic Si - Dohc 1.6L EFI
Civic GLi - Sohc 1.5L or 1.6L EFI
Civic GL - Sohc 1.5L twin Carby
Civic Breeze - Sohc 1.3L carby

The engine i got under my bonnet is a 'D16A8', it's got a hydrolic clutch. I was wondering if this is the same gearbox used on the B16A's?

Reason why I'm asking all this is because I have an LSD off a ZC gearbox (off the old CRX). I want to know if the ZC gearbox is the same like mine. 
Track day is comming in 3 weeks and it would really help if i had an LSD.

well.. hmm. I know that the actual EG JDM civic Si was a non vtec DOHC motor that is essentially the same as a ZC motor in the 4th gen (EF) Si's. the SiR was the b16a.
(for anyone who doesnt beleve me, go to katmans site, to internal links, to JDM mecha, then to the two pages of jdm shipments. theres a pic of one there).
Ive also been told that the ZC trannies, other than one being hydro and one being cable, are pretty much internally the same.. BUT-this is all here-say. I do not know this for certain, because we never got any of the ZC or even the b16a powered EG Hatch cars over here from the factory. Sorry im not much help, You my want to try one of the JDM specialty shops on the web..
