Default Do I need to swap my engine?

I am posting this for my wife. She has brought up a problem with the civic. It seems that she looses whatever torque she has when she runs the AC. I suggested that she just use it on the highway but it is damn hot in NYC.

She is interested in a swap but I don’t want to take that on just yet.

What can I do to make her ride better? I am not looking for top end, just torque.

Thanks

Hot in NYC? Try 116 degrees Monday the 2nd of July. With 40% humidity.
Some people were reporting 121 in some parts of Phoenix. The airport (official temp) is a little low compared to the rest of Phoenix.
My brother just yanked his AC. I seldom run my AC... Just on the freeway
in the non-stop'n'go traffic.
You could Retard the timing to 15 degrees? Get some AEM pulleys so that
other accesories (like AC) could scavenge your torque and hp.
Gut the car so the engine works less to get it going?
Tell the ole lady to drop a few pounds. Just kidding NO FLAMES PLEASE.

I dont understand....does your wife race her civic. I dont see a reason why you need to be so torquey in a civic thats daily driven. IMO no you dont need to swap the engine, just turn off the a/c when you want to run that **** hard.

and horsepower and torque run hand in hand....try a 4-2-1 header upgrade for a mild low end upgrade.

Haha Leejen, she actually is pretty light for her height. I tell her to finish her meals. Anyway, she has decided to just run it without the ac unless on the highway.

I felt the same thing when I used to drive the car. I just did without the ac. This is my wife though and I don't want her to have to deal with being uncomfortable.

I am going to look into changing the pulleys. My homie Vin is running a set in his Type R.

Uh she doesn't race it but she does like to move. Not really swerving just having to get somewhere quick. We talked and we will do some stuff to see if we can get some more out of the d16.

Thanks for the help.

since she isn't into racing and she just wants more torque i sugest (if you decide to swap) a b20z it will give tons of torqe and it bolts rite in. or even an ls which may be cheaper. dont bother turning the b20z into a crv-tec just use it stock thats what i'd do

I run my a/c like a damn eskimo now that i've done my gsr swap. Running around phoenix in rush-hour traffic with no a/c is hardcore, I used to do that all the time but got sick of taking 5 showers a day. Anyway, I'll second the ls swap if you come across one for a screaming deal.

Nope looks like we will be looking to get into a totally different car. I wanted to keep it in the family so that I could work it into a race-car. It seems that we are going to have to go the way of most racers. The car will leave us and I hope that we can get another some time later.
