Default do i need the this part(2000 si)pic inside please help

do you see the aluminum pice thats connected to the hose?theres two part to it,one on the top that i think is supposed to be to the valve cover, but its not being used, and the bottom one ,one side the hose is connected to where the thermostat is at and the other side theres a hose that connects to the bottom of the throttle body.so my question is can i just buy a longer hose to connect strait from thermostat to tb without using the metal thing in between ?cuz it just in the way.thanks [IMG][/IMG]

sir yes sir, you can just take the two hoses out and replace it with one longer one. it just looks tacky if you leave that metal piece in there. i took mines off and replaced it. looks much better without....have fun with it....

I have always wondered what hondas purpose for doing that was. I mean there has to be some reason for it. I don't think it will hurt anything. That piece hasn't been under my hood since I boosted her about 2 years ago.

replace it with 2 hoses that is what i did on my civic. I dont know why honda did it like that it would have been cheaper for them to use 2 hoses rather than that. one is the crank case ventilation the other is a coolant line to the throttle body i think.
