Do I need an o2 sim?
I have a 97 civic with an OBD-IIa integra LS swap. I deleted the Cat and have no secondary o2 sensor. Should I be using an o2 sim? I have been told that I am probably running lean right now.

my engine light came on when i took my cat out and put a test pipe in. The o2 simulator doesn't work because the o2 simulator needs some back pressure for it to be effective. Your check engine light wont turn off until you put a high flow cat in or your stock one. You need back pressure for your light to turn off and the o2 simulator wont do anything because its relient on back pressure. So if you get a high flow cat you might need the simulator.

WTF are you talking about?
an O2 simulator has nothing to do with backpressure. It's an electronic device that can be mounted in the ECU if you're decent with soldering.

I bought an o2 simulator thinking it will help. the plug and play one for $80.00 and it was still on. I called casper electronics were i bought it from and they said for that o2 simulator to work you have to have some sort of back pressure. So I think were talking about 2 different kinds of o2 sims

I live 5 minutes from them. I'll be sure to ask about that version of the simulator. This is very new and confusing to me.

you are mistaken. all an o2 sim does is simulate the voltage the ecu is looking for so you won't throw a cel. It has absolutely nothing what-so-ever to do with backpressure. O2 sims are notorious for not working properly, as the secondary o2 signal needs to be within a certain range of the primary o2's reading. Since the simulator puts out a constant voltage, it may or may not be within spec when compared to the primary o2's reading.
IMO, just run a secondary o2. a muffler shop can add an o2 bung for you real cheap.

ahhh, that's an inline converter not a true simulator. I didn't realize they changed like that. I'll have to stop in and ask why they switched.
Basically all it does is reduce the signal from the O2 to look like the cat is there.
