Default do i have to use an obd1 dizzy for my obd0-obd1 conversion?

Ok im gonna do an obdo conversion and ive got a minime rex with a d16y8 head
and the obd1 dizzy wont fit right on the head with out prefabrication and and electrical harness. The obd0 fits, What i wanna know is , is it absolutly necessary to upgrade the dizzy for the p28 or could i just switch some wires around. what the difference between the two anyway besides harnesses and holes? Id really like to stick with this obd0 si dizzy and some rewiring is not a problem for me.
