do hondas have shut off if the engines running with no oil?

Default do hondas have shut off if the engines running with no oil?

i gota 95 EG coupe with a b16, last week i ran over somthing witch made a hole in the oil pan, now i didnt know it had done so so i kept driving, the heat didnt spike nuthin then it just the engine just shut off and thats when i noticed, i just put a new oil pan on and tried to start it, it didnt start. sooo is there an electric shut off before it causes damage or not, oh and the engine is not locked up

never heard of an oil pressure shut off. just a light on the cluster

there is no engine shut off when there is no oil. motor died b/c there was no lubrication between any of the surfaces, and siezed up. i cant say it isnt now, but more than likely what happened at the time.

just check and make sure everything is ok. everything is still hooked up etc. maybe something came loose, hard to say without looking/working on the car.

Well, it will shut off; but that's usually the pistons welding to the cylinder walls.

yeahhhh i knew that was the deal i was just wanted some other people to agree or tell me it could be ok, buttt now the question is, do u think the head is ok, and if so witch botom end should i get, i know i could getanother b16 shortblock cheap, i would love to geta ls for an LS vtec, but i mean just put in input of wat u think i should do, ima gear head with my first honda, so u dont gota dumb stuff down for me-

Sucks man, but you're a candidate for an engine swap.

if it was just cruising you head is more than likely OK. Just take it apart and clean it out incase of any metal shavings from the bearings. Oil pressure gauge&gt;you

i'd go with the ls/vtec. just have your b16head gone through. my buddy picked up an ls block with all aftermarket pistons, and rods, etc for $500. you could get cheaper. good luck.
