Default Do ecu's go bad, anyone had one? if so let me know

I have a p30 that throws the code 41 which is for the o2 sensor and i put it in a buddies car and it did the same in his so i know that it istn my car also i have a couple of other p30s that i was using and none of them would throw any code at all. anyone encounter a bad ecu??? if so let me know this ecu looks like it mught have gotten wet ro something. ALso if the ecu it throwing a code will chipping it with a real time or with an eprom chip take it away??

chipping will not make the code away. ecu's arent that expensive, my sugg. just buy a new one instead of spending the money to do all the other stuff. its only a hundred bucks.

41 is primary O2, you need that one unless you're going to try to use the one wire O2 from the CX and disable the primary heater circuit.

If there was a wiring problem (heater output tied to battery) it would blow the output that turns on the heater and cause this.
Either take the ECU to someone that can repair it, learn how to repair it yourself or sell it.

I may be interested if you want to sell it.

Chipping would only make the CEL go away if that system was disabled in the ROM. Usually a CEL indicates a failure in the system, either the component or the wiring. But an ECU can go bad. Like mentioned they usually aren't worth repairing. I personally charge $85-$105 an hour for electrical work. So replacing might be a better option in this case.
