Do all of you have this problem?? (short shifter)
I just installed B&M short edge shifter to my 98 EX. I just found out that it rattles against the exaust pipe. Do all of you have this problem? Did I do anything wrong? Comments would be helpful.
thanks

I've heard of having your exhaust pipe heated and sorta squeezed and also have the hangers bent slightly to give more room.

My Skunk2 short shifter rattles around 3000 to 4000 rpm, but other than that it is quiet. I still haven't figured out how to make it quiet.. has anyone thought of something to quiet a rattling shifter? it has ball bearings , and it doesn't hit the exhaust....

Re: Do all of you have this problem?? (Blue-Civic-Hybrid)
I also just recently installed my B&M racing short shifter in my 99 Civic Ex. I also have an Apexi WS exhaust. I had some rattling issues with it. But it wasn't from it hitting the exhaust. You know the cylinder that is in the end of the shifter, that was the part that was rattling. Here is my previous link where I posted my problem, and my solution.

ive read your article before i installed mine. I did not remove the black O rubber (4 of them) in the bushings. Did you use the 2 original rubber that connects the shifter and the linkage? Mine rattle against the exaust pipe when going from second to third gear. also on low rpm!

Had the same problem.
But I installed a new midpipe, which got rid of the problem.
You can heat up the hangers and bend the pipe more down to get some clearance.

I had that problem with all three of my s/s's until a performance shop guy recommended getting the Apexi N1, because it hangs lower than stock. I have also heard that a bushings will help solve it.
