Do all KYBs look like they're used?
When I got my new AGXs in from ebay a week or 2 ago, the front pair had looked like they'd been used. Their was a worn out/scratched up ring around the bottom of them where they mount, and the threads at the top of the strut seemed dirty. I felt that they weren't new, so I called up the shop that i had gotten them from. She apologized, then payed for shipping back to her place where she said she would send me a new pair. Well I just recieved this email from her:
Is this true? Did all the ones you guys bought look like that?
Cliff notes: The KYB AGXs I bought looked used and the shop I got tehm from told me they all look like that, that's how they come.

you look just like the ones you returned. To be honest, I think that is
how they are made. The threads on the top start a little lower, so it
almost looks like they have been installed, but I just got in this other
pair Monday on my stock order from KYB, so there is no way these could
have been used.
I just wanted to let you know the new ones are going to look exactly the
same as the ones you returned. I talked to my tech department - had them
look at the part - and they are telling me that is the way the shock is
made.
I just wanted to let you know, in case you had any other questions.

Yeah they must be used or something like that because when I got mine there was not a scratch on them and they were pretty shiny looking also.

yah dude sounds shady... They're gonna send you a shock that looks the EXACT same... CUZ it probably is. And if the front differ from the way the rear look, id say your gettin own'd by em. BE careful dude.

Sounds like a load of BS to me. What shop are you dealing with? Personally I'd give them back the "uninstalled" struts and buy from somewhere else.

When i got my kyb agx's they were straight bling bling. Didnt look NEthing closed to being used at all. Each one was in a sealed up box and then in a bag and inside each bag was the shock and another lil bag with the adjuster tool, some hardware, and a nifty lil sticker! 
There was alos a lil clear rubber cap over the threads on the top when u can adjust them. Sounds like u better go get some lipstick and put it on cuz ur bout to get fucked. I would buy from somewhere else man.

In the rear shocks, there was some paint chipped on the spring seat, but I could tell that's from chipping. The fronts had looked like they'd been installed however, so I'm not sure what to think, which is why i sent them back. I guess I'll give them a call and see what's up.
I paid $307.xx shipped for them, so it would be a great deal if they were new. I doubt she's trying to rip me off, why would she pay for shipping back to her and then send me a new set? Plus they've got a great feedback rating so who knows.
