dizzy plugs dont match
im putting a obd2 b18b1 LS into my 00 ek.. there is three wires that i cant use but need.
1. the dizzy plug doesnt match.
2. i think the crank sensor, drivers side of block by the alternator.
3. o2 sensor before cat.
i think for #3 i can switch my d series o2 sensor over to the LS engine, will that work?
what do i need to do?
i have a b16 head for a LS/vtec but i didnt want to put that on until later when it gets finished and im trying to get my engine in asap becuase i don't have a car to drive. it doesnt have a dizzy.. can i get a b16 dizzy and use it on the b18 non-vtec?
btw, this is my first H swap, and im trying to do everything right.

Re: dizzy plugs dont match (PhrequenC)
1. if the dizzy deoesnt plug in you dont have a 0bd2 dizzy.
2. idk i dont know what you mean
3. in a obd2 car you need 2 o2 sensors so that you dont have a cel
first your talking about a b series then a h series???

Re: dizzy plugs dont match (PhrequenC)
the 2000 ek does have a different plug.
if i remember take the dizzy apart and just match wire for wire on the plug from the donor car.
i ran into this on my friends 00 ek dx to gsr swap.
on the CKF match the 2 that go color for color, terminate the orange i think it is.
the iac is the same way. (again it has been a while)

1. if your 00 ex is non vtec then you can use that distributor on the LS.
2. The o2 sensor off your ex should work fine.
3. you'll be fine without a crank sensor, multiple engines ive swapped come without one.
good luck

No, you can't use a D dizzy on a B engine.
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by 93egboosted »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">1. if the dizzy deoesnt plug in you dont have a 0bd2 dizzy.</TD></TR></TABLE>
This isn't true. 99-00 civics have a 10 pin dizzy plug. 96-98 civics have an 8 pin plug just like the B series. 99-00 Civics will not plug right into a B series dizzy even though 96-98 will.
What I did when I had this problem was cut off my D series dizzy plug from the engine harness and soldered on the B series plug from a 01 Integra gsr. The colors match up, and the 10 pin plug really only has 8 wires I believe. Think you can also use a plug from a 96-98 Civic, EM1, or any OBD2 Integra. Or, I think phearable or someone sells a converter harness.
If you're using a usdm engine and ECU, I don't think you want to bypass the CKF sensor - the bypass trick is generally used if you have an ECU that's looking for a CKF that your engine doesn't have... like JDM engine on a USDM ecu. If I remember right, I had to change the plug on mine to match... just used the CKF plug from an Integra harness, and think I may have had to extend it some because it wouldn't reach.

Re: dizzy plugs dont match (Vindicator9000)
i did something similar to this above,
i had an engine with a complete harness. used the ek engine harness, and repinned the harness with a plug i harvested from the swap engine.

Re: dizzy plugs dont match (Vindicator9000)
so the 10-pin plug really isn't 10 Wires? just pins?
if i rewire a big plug to my harness what will i do with the extra two wires?

Re: dizzy plugs dont match (PhrequenC)
i dont remember what i did, i know i had both helms' and went pin for pin, and one isnt used, it has been a while and it was a customers car.
but yes there is a 100% difference between a 99-00 ek single cam dizzy plug and b series plug.

Re: dizzy plugs dont match (boostedcivicsir)
okay. i've been calling around some parts stores/salvage yards, but i havent found any place willing to sell just the pigtail off harness..there is no junkyards in my area 06606 that have walk-in access.
ideas where i can get the pigtail + plug?

Re: dizzy plugs dont match (PhrequenC)
I was lucky and bought my swap with an entire integra engine harness. There's no pick-n-pulls near you? If so, you just need to cut off the plug - they'll charge you like a dollar for it.
If not, you can probably re-pin it the other way - swap the dizzy plug from the D-series dizzy onto the B-series dizzy, rather than swapping the plug on the engine side. You'd essentially be making the B-series dizzy match up to a D-series plug rather than just swapping the D plug for a B plug. I personally don't like this option because you'll have to do it again if you ever have to replace the dizzy, but I don't see why it won't work.
Don't remember the o2 sensor plugs not matching up on my 00 EX, but it might be different if you don't have an EX.
