Default DIY jdm EK9 healdights

ok I know how to take them apart and everythign, just wondering what color I sure paint them? The real ones look a bit lighter than black... like almost a dark grey or something.

search is your friend mang.
to remove the headlight u have to unbolt it
remove the bulbs once the headlight is bare put it in the oven for 5 to 10 mins at 190 degrees. take a small flathead and gently pry the headlight apart. then paint it what ever color u feel looks close to the Type R.

I know how to do it. I was just wondering what COLOR peopel are using.

yeah if someone could answer this for me too i was wondering the same thing. where do you get it as well. if someone could tell me the exact paint color to use to get the gunmetal look and what kind of primer they used as well. thanks

It is hard to replicate the look of the CTR headlights because the housing of them is not painted. Some people go with the flat black, but to get closer to the look of the CTR I would recommend a light gunmetal or dark silver. As for primer, white or grey primer is good. I am sure they have a wide selection of colors at Home Depot or a Paint supply store. Maybe even Kragen or Pep Boys.

I think you could use Hyper Gunmetal or some of the rim colours for it. Of course, you will need to get an aerosol can made for it. It might seem a bit too much for such application but the result could be unique.

Flat black does seem a bit dull to me. Something flashy is nice.

I did mine a flat gunmetal color and I don't really like how they look.
