I used green bulbs to make my climate control green.
For the defrost and cruise control switches I removed the bezels, folded up the clear green divider tabs (free from my work!!!) and put them in the bezel. Voila! Green illuminated defrost and cruise control switches.
I'll try your DIY to make my clock green.

Yeah, mine look the same way in person. I used the same natural amber bulbs, no painting. It was just the camera settings and whatever. They're a nice amber

Cluster looks awesome man. I want to do it to my car. How did you get to the bulbs for the cluster, take it out and theyre right there? If i buy those 24NA bulbs will they be a direct replacement?

Theres another DIY on the dash bulbs, and one on LEDs. I think most or 24s, or something, but there are some that are smaller, and some larger, depending on make/model /year
Check the sticky, or search, it was up not too long ago

Very nice writeup. OP, I have that same Kenwood Headunit.
I had just finished reading a how to article about doing the Gauge Cluster and Climate Control in amber. They used Testors Competition Orange #1628 in a spray can and painted the bulbs.
Are some of you guys finding the correct amber bulbs at Autozone? If I do the gauge cluster and climate control this weekend I am gonna go ahead and do my clock like the OP as well

Well I decided today I would do amber guage cluster and climate control. I went to autozone hoping to find some of the Amber 24 and 74 bulbs but they had none, so I got regular clear. Also pulled the bulb out for my Autometer oil psi gauge and took it in to see if I could match it up. It was a 161, then I went to hobby lobby and picked up some 1628 testors paint. 1st coat is on the bulbs now.
I think my carbon fiber oil psi gauge will look sweet amber. They sent me a green and red bulb cover with the guage and I have always used the red. But hopefully the amber will look sweet. Some are worried about the paint chipping, etc. I don't think this will be an issue as long as they are allowed to properly dry before they are installed. I am going to do 3 coats and see where that gets me. I have a styrofoam board and I have the connectors of the bulbs stuck in there. So I don't have to touch the bulbs until they are fully dried. I am taking the bulbs outside to paint and then bringing them in the house to dry as its rather nippy out.
