Just registered on this site for this thread, but unfortunately there's still no pics? Trying to figure out how to get the axles out without taking the hub nut off (impact, torch, PB Blaster, more impact, then a 6ft breaker bar that makes the tire skid on the ground and not break the nut loose.)

I suppose you could take the entire hub off and leave the axle nut on, just pull the axle from the tranny... It would be a pain in the *** though.

Just pull the lower ball joint off the lower control arm. You should have enough movement at that point to pull the axle out of the transmission.

I'm in the process of installing a trans in my DX because the sleeve the axle slides through on the diff decided to break off on me and make my axle pull out.

Gives me a chance to change my cluctch and flywheel finally though.

Funny timing, I just registered for this thread as well.

I broke my clutch fork pivot bolt and was hoping to be able to reinstall the clutch fork w/o dropping the tranny. I've heard this isn't possible, and now that i've replaced the pivot bolt I might have to agree -- I can't get it on there.

Upon further inspection, looks as though one of the tabs of my release bearing are broken, which may help explain why the pivot bolt broke. So it looks like I'm in for my first tranny removal.

So if you remove the lower ball joint you probably won't have to remove the axles through the hub? Sounds like that would be helpful.

This thread is very old so, you would be better off creating your own thread.
