Default DIY: EK9 tail lights?

Any EK hatch dudes did a conversion on their stock rear lights so that it lights up on the top and bottom like the EK9?

I have that pair of lights, but the bottom does not light up. There is a round looking slot that can be cut out to house the bulb socket at the bottom. Can I just buy the sockets/bulb, cut the slot out and do some wiring?

He thought that the JDM Civic Type R taillights lit at the top and bottom, but not eh USDM hatch taillights.

Therefore, he thought in order to make his lights like the EK9, he would have to wire something differently himself (DIY).

He was wrong.

All '96-'00 hatch taillights are supposed to light on the top and bottom.

Mine do not light up at the bottom and there is no hole at the back to even house a bulb socket. There are only 3 socket housing holes behind. Top brake light, signal lights and reverse lights. I have a JDM 96-00 SiR hatch.

Sounds more like the bottom ones blew out.

I know Eran's '97 hatch lights light up at the bottom. So do his red/white CTR taillights.

i know the ones in europe do not light up on the bottom.
garyc17, where are you from?

to let the bottom light up just place a lampholder in the bottom parts and run a wire from the top lights

I am from Asia.

bobobob, that is exactly what I been thinking of doing. The problem is the sockets are not sold seperately from the dealer. I have to buy the entire rear light harness.

No, they light at the bottom too. Eran has CTR taillights and they light top and bottom.

I know. Thus why I said "some" and why I named the file "blue rear fog". Some EDM markets use rear fog lights. The rear fog light is always on the driver's side. I'm showing that some EDM hatches do light on the bottom though (after it was said that they don't, at all).

EK9 vs USDM rear lights
has only 1 difference,
The bottom of thelights don't have a reflector in the JDM version.
USDM do
They both should light up all around

Just got to get the wire harness and cut out the rear of the lights for the lower socket. Strange thing is my lights are not replicas but Stanley lights. Red on top and bottom and clear white in the middle.

DIYed the whole thing already. Turned out fine. But there is a reflector about 1 inch thick above the white portion. That part is not lit unlike the CTR??
