Civic starts but won't stay on

I need help my civic starts but it won't stay on. I have no cel,the car was running fine days before this occurred.I don't know if the iacv has to be cleaned or if the map sensor is out. The only other thing is that when the car starts the rpm fluctuates below 1000 rpm and will only stay on if I keep the rpm above 1000 rpm by giving it gas. I don't know where to begin troubleshooting any info will be greatly appreciate thanks

It's a 96 civic ex with a d16y8 boosted running a hondata s300

Check spark plugs,distributor cap and rotor,vacuum leaks etc.

I'm having a similar problem on my 98 civic D16Y8, but I did change the head gasket. The car was set to TDC and start up just fine, it ran good so I adjusted the timing. I moved the car and let it sit over night. The next day I tried to start up the car again and would not stay on. It would jump to 1500 rpm and stay for a few seconds and then turn off. I'm stuck and not sure what to do.. any help would be appreciated...
