DIY Cutting Sport Spring
I have white EG fitted with sport spring and just wondering if anyone could give me some input on how do I cut my spring manually. A step by step guidance will be helpful I would like to cut the rear spring. By the way my rear brake is drum system. Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: DIY Cutting Sport Spring (JustEG)
Nobody will show you because that's just the pure cheap-*** method of being low.
Don't do it...at least buy some ebay springs that are lower then what you have

Since you're probably going to do it anyway, a hacksaw will work. The 'right' way (if there is such a thing) would be a cutting torch.

That's pretty dangerous. You'll be heat treating and can possibly make the metal harder and more brittle; which you can imagine isn't a good thing.

I would use a big assed grinder before I would use a circular saw (those are the ones you use to cut wood, right?)
Look in the classifieds section for someone selling a set of springs. I got a set of $200 Tein's for $40, with shocks.

at least with cut springs you can aprox how much to cut on each spring where heat treating it purely guessing and can make the entire car lopsided.
But why bother man
http://search.ebay.com/95-spri...sooZ1
i got 65 matches for 92-95 lowering springs cheaper than 50 bucks, ride quality will probaly suck but not as much as those springs your about to start hackin up.

Re: DIY Cutting Sport Spring (LeClkMyDeClk)
Thanks for the input guyz I know springs are pretty cheaps at the US but to ship to Aussie will cost twice the price of the springs itself and not that I dun wanna get a new one but it just that the springs is worthless now and rather than try to selling it I rather use it so at least I still gain something out of it. I got a hacksaw yesterday but I had a problem in dismantling the rear drum brake system. Could you assist me on how to dismantle it? Any warnings and guidance. Thanks so much.

Re: DIY Cutting Sport Spring (JustEG)
you will REGRET it.
Cutting springs was an option back in the day,... say late 60's/70's when aftermarket parts pretty much didn't exist.
just save up and get yourself something half decent and factory cut.

Look here. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=908662
To remove my rear shocks I:
-Pulled the bolt from the Upper arm and the Trailing arm
-Then I used a jack to lift up the Lower arm so I could pull the bolt out (Have to lift it because it's a bitch to pull out.)
-Then undo the bolt holding the Shock to the Lower arm. (First I loosened the 2 bolts holding the shock inside the car)
-Then you undo the small bolts inside the trunk/hatch of you car (best to have a friend hold the shock while you undo them. Makes it easier to unscrew and prevents the shock from just dropping out.
-Pull the shock out.
I don't know how to remove the spring from the shock itself, the springs I bought came with stock shocks.
Basically remove the BIG green bolts in the picture from that thread.
Hope that helps
Nick
PS- This is going to be a near impossible job w/out PB blaster and an Impact gun. I'd also reccomend buying some antiseize and putting it on the threads of all the bolts incase you have to take it all off in the future.

Re: DIY Cutting Sport Spring (notabassist31)
why would you need to unbolt the rear brakes? you can pull the whole strut assembly right out. just remove the retaining bolt from your lower control arm and then the tower bolt up top in your trunk. really easy! cutting your springs should be a last resort. you can get springs shipped to Aus. for like $100. splurge man.

Re: DIY Cutting Sport Spring (JustEG)
cutting springs are stupid, you will have a bouncy car with horrible handling and probably bottom out all the time, Like everyone else is saying buy some cheap ones if you have to.

Dawg,
You don't have some ****** domestic old school ride. we use to do that when i was in high school. Don't do that crap. Listen to these guys and just by a set of springs that drops your ride low enough. To be honest, that's the dumbest thing you could ever do to your ride. Uneveness isn't cool. I did that **** to my Camaro back in the day and I truely regret it. Don't do it bro'
