Hey Honda-Tech!

I changed the distributor rotor on my '98 Civic EX, and I was looking at the old rotor. It's in alright shape, a little burnt and slightly worn, but it didn't run poorly at all. Just changed it because I bought the car a year ago (134k) and didn't know when it had last been done.

Anyway there's a circle of numbers which, if it is a date code, 10/1997 means it's probably the original rotor.



Anyone know what these numbers mean? I've searched and haven't really found anything about it. The plug wires also say 1997, and the car runs like a top. Testament to OEM Honda ignition parts I think!

10/97 would mean it was made for the 98 model year.

Im not sure of the point if this thread..

I didn't know if that was the date it was made or just coincidence, and couldn't find anything about it. There's similar markings on cylinder heads that do correspond to date produced so I figured it might be the same on other parts.

I believe the number in the center is the year as you've said and the arrow points to the month, 10 in this case. So the rotor was made in October of '97.

OEM Honda ignition parts are pretty hard to beat.
