distributor question

Is the distibutor for all sohc motors the same? I'm mostly interested in the casing because while changing the cap today two of the bolts broke off in the housing. I already tried a screw extractor and it didnt work, so I'm gonna head to the junkyard tomorrow to see if i can find a distib for cheap. so are the d16z6 and d15 using the same distrib housing? and any other sohc motors? also could you tell me what cars might use the same distrib housing as my motor? I only know del sols, and not much about other hondas yet.

yes, they all use the same black casing....if not you can just buy a dist. cap from pep-boys for like $20

Re: distributor question (SpoonFedHatch)

sorry, i meant i need the aluminum bottom housing that the distrib internals are in which the cap bolts onto. But, within the last 5 minutes I was able to get out one broken bolt, so now i have one stuck. so I was thinking of just leaving it with 2 bolts holding the cap on. Will i have problems with moisture with only 2 bolts now or no?
o yea, my motor is non vtec

i beleive the vtec and not vtec are different...

i remember when mines went out and my buddy had a d16z6 dist laying around and it didnt work...

i could be wrong though, my memories of the d series are blurred....

'88- '91 use different housings than '92- '95, and '96+ use the same mounting pattern as '88- '91. Don't go buy a new housing. Take it to a garage and have 'em pull it out. It'll be cheaper. Distributors at junk yards are about $150.
