Default Distributor help!

Hello everyone! To make a very long story short, I have a 98 civic ex body with a 99 civic ex engine in it. The 98 is obd2a while the engine is obd2b. This meaning that the distributor plug from the obd2b engine does not correctly plug into the odb2a harness. I have the correct obd2a distributor to plug into the harness, however it doesn't not line up with the bolt holes correctly on the mount. It does however line up with the camshaft inside. Does anyone have any advice on what to do? Should I somehow attempt to make a new bracket for it? Is there a way I can swap the plugs from one distributor to another? Am I crazy? Any help is appreciated - thanks everyone who answers.

What does the distributer say on it ? Should be TDxx iirc or maybe it's just the B-series that start with TD. the engine is a d16y8 correct ?

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes - it's a d16y8 and the one on the engine originally says TD-74U and the one I need on there says TD-42u

From what I know that distributer is from a Z6(the TD-42u) and will not line up(I searched around a bit before saying that). From reading you can apparently swap the guts(internals) from one housing to another so in this case you'd want to swap the td-42u guts into the td-73 housing. there might be a much simpler solution I just don't 100% know D-series that well

I figured as much and I really do appreciate the feedback. That's most likely what I'll do, shouldn't be too difficult. Do you know if swapping the internals brings along the plug as well? That would make my day

Yes it does lol just slips out with the main components(coil igniter etc)

I've pulled apart many distributers that's why I suggested swapping the guts. this is the "shell" of one I took apart and did a DIY on how to replace the inner o-ring, see no plug
