You may have a aftermarket distributor. Most internal coil Honda distributors use the same cap (some accords use a different cap)

aftermarket distributor shouldn't make that much of a difference....should still utilize a stock cap....Im thinking that maybe the wrong distributor is on the bad boy, or maybe someone swapped the guts from one distributor sub-assembly to another.

No, Same distributor king do not run OEM cap (or fit for that matter) and use their own rotor too. Like I said, some aftermarket distributor uses different caps. If it is a rebuilt, it will most likely use a OEM cap.

If the car is running without codes for the distributor, mostly like it has the right distributor. Most internal coil Honda distributors use the same cap. OBD-0 is the exempt. But, if the car is running, I doubt it is the OBD-0 cap.

hmmm....the aftermarket distributors here in Canada must be different than US ones...all the aftermarket distributors Ive dealt with have used a stock cap and rotor...

It doesnt have to be the stock distibutor to be running w/o ignition system codes...you can swap out internals from an OBD 1 distibutor sub assembly into an OBD2 sub-assembly and run without codes. When you do that, there is a possibility that it will use a different cap and rotor. And like you said yourself, most internal coil B-series distibutors do use the same cap (Part no. 30105-P54-006 [interchangable for 30105-PT2-xxx] here in Canada) but there are instances where the cap isn't the same.

won't work...He said that he tried to use an Si and del sol VTEC cap already and to the best of my knowledge, they, as well as the 97 teg LS, all utilize the 30105-P54-006 cap.

He could try a ITR cap....worth a shot.

nope....Ive got an LS engine and it uses the P54 cap...same as a 99-00 SI

Part number is different when looking it up, but it supercedes internally at Honda to the P54 number.

Trust me. I know this for a fact.

If it's an OBD-1 B16A, the distro cap should be the same as '94-95 Integra GSR and '94-95 del Sol VTEC . . . not '96-97 del Sol VTEC or '99-00 Civic Si.

Thanks guys.

I did ask for a 1995 del Sol VTEC cap and it didn't work.

It can't be an aftermarket setup because right now it has a TEC Honda cap on it.

I guess I can try a GSR cap... I don't see how a ITR cap will work considering all USDM ITR's are OBD-2.

Does anyone know if the number inside of the cap signify's anything? It's like M1xxxx . If so, is there a way I can use this number to check what car it came off of?
