Default Disk Brake Conversion: all 4 wheels stuck - checked ebrake cables, pedal height what else?

Car: 1993 Honda Civic DX

I know there are tons and tons of posts about problems with disk brake swaps so I hope this isn't already covered as I read through many of them...

First off, here is what I have:
'00 Si complete brake swap
Used everything in rear except using GSR LCA
Used everything up front except using stock brake line and stock UCA
Brake booster is supposedly from a 93 NON-ABS Integra
MC is from a 94 NON-ABS Integra (bought from schucks)
Prop valve is an integra 40/40 prop valve

With the components I used, I did not have to bend any or reflare any brake lines.

Swap went fine, brakes definitely work, but all 4 wheels are stuck. So this isn't like a stuck caliper or stuck ebrake cable. Front and rear are all stuck as if the brakes are on.

Now I adjusted the brake pedal as high as you can possibly go, and it DID make some what of a difference as with some effort, I'm able to rotate the front wheels now.

So I'm almost feeling like the brake booster just won't work for this car? I can't adjust the booster out any further as the pedal is touching the brake light bracket.

Does anyone know what I can do?

Here are pictures of the prop, mc, and booster:

Maybe it is adjusted to far out and putting presure on the brakes almost like you are stepping on the pedal. That is the only thing i could think about unless the master cylinder is causing something

brake fluid is some cheap brand purchased at schucks. DOT3 fluid.

Yea, I was wondering about the pedal adjustment. Was going to try the opposite but according to the FSM, I'm doing it right...not sure...

bump.

talked to a friend and said might be a wrong sized M/C. I actually had to compress the rod on the M/C (by pushing it against the booster) to screw it or secure it to the booster. This in essence is pressing the brakes slightly. Any ideas why the integra non-abs 15/16th m/c rod is too long in the booster?

From what I've read (unless I read it wrong), you can use both integra rs non-abs master cylinder and/or the civic ex master cylinder.

Im not sure if the MC work when you swapped booster but im sure if you use a stock booster, you would need a 91 civic ex MC which is 15/16

I don't know much about the measurements (or brakes in general) but I can tell you it's either the brake booster, prop valve, or possibly the wrong MC. If the rod's too long obviously the pressure'll stay on the pads. I don't think it's the calipers.

My money would be on the MC.

There is your problem if you had to compress the m/c it is like you are holding the brake the whole time and that is why all your brakes are locked up try your stock master cylinder and see if it works

I think the 91 ex sedan MC is a 1" not 15/16.

Yea...so why did my mc/booster combo not work? can I not usre a 93 integra non-abls booster? does it have to be 94 and up?

I know for sure that the mc is a 94 non-abs and I'm almost confident I read that you can use this. Since the 93 booster matched up, I figured I could use this booster.

I would rather not go back to my 93 dx booster as it defeats the point of upgrading the brakes a bit. Can someone tell me if I need to get a 94 integra booster?

Ok guys, maybe this is it?

93 Integra Non-ABS Booster is 7"+8"
94 Integra Non-ABS Booster is 8"+9"

Not sure what that means but from the sounds of it, the 94 is slightly larger? Seems to make sense with the problem I'm having. The rod is probably too long on the 94's MC to fit correctly into the 93 booster?

Time to shop for a 94 booster real quick! Let me know if you guys think this can be it.

I hate having to bleed the brakes all over again and taking that stupid booster in/out was the biggest paint!

try a '94 BB to your '94 MC. My del Sol has a full GSR brake conversion, but I had to bend lines to make the MC work. The booster can be run from anything. th DA booster probably has different geometry than the DC MC. Try using all DA or all DC BB/MC combo. Promise it will fix the problem if that is where it lies.

Alright guys...got car fixed but still confused...

went to the junk yard and picked up a '94 Integra RS Non-ABS Booster and they gave me the MC for free since it was still on it.

Tried to use that MC and one of the holes was too big for the brake line bolt??? Wierd...anyway, I take that MC off and put the '94 RS Non-ABS MC I bought at schucks on which has the right hole sizes.

Everything bolts up perfect, this time MC fits snug and brakes work just fine now...they don't feel quite as strong as they did with the original '93 booster I had...I kind of miss that...almost feel like I have more brake potential....

But in any case, the car works now and brakes are still noticeably better than before. What a nightmare this turned out to be.

make sure u bleed them completely. Air might still be in your system if it still feels weak.

did you check your booster pushrod to m/c piston clearence? Theres a little rod that sticks out of the booster that adjusts in/out and if it sticks too far out it will push the piston on the m/c and bam...you have brakes applied even when the pedal is not being pushed.

thanks chrisw85. that was the problem. but I already figured that out and put on a different booster with correct clearance. Brakes work good now.

93 non-abc booster and 94 mc don't go well together...FYI.
