Disgusting Grinding Noise... Please advise...
Hello all,
I have a 1998 Honda Civic M/T 1.6L non vtech SOHC. and I have been having this issue for about a month now. At first I thought it was the brake pads, a lil bleed on all four corners. So i did this and i kept having issues. SO then i changed out the master cylinder, and bled all four corners and still this nasty grinding sound. I then thought that it was the caliper seizing up, so i recently changed the caliper and pads AGAIN, and i bled all four corners again. I drove the car today and on my way to work i started to hear that same sound. I took a video, but if it loaded... Does anyone have some insight on what the issue might be?? Please advise I would greatly appreciate any info on fixing this.
this is really frustrating not to mention im having to bleed and replace pads constantly

Probably bad front tires (what it was on my 2000 EX), or a bad wheel bearing.
I had an awful grinding noise on my '00 EX when I bought it. It had sh*tty Walmart Goodyear tires on it. I replaced the tires and the noise is gone.

The tires have been good i had changed them not too long ago, but I was thinking about replacing the whole hub tomorrow. I don't wanna spend money on parts that probably wont fix the issue

I would jack it up and check the wheel bearing when its hot after a run
and also check the disc dust sheild as it might warp when hot
if you have abs check the abs ring on the drive shaft
that sound is deff metal on metal !!
nothing to do with tires

Awesome!!!! I just needed a few confirmations prior to replacing parts, its frustrating and annoying not knowing how to fix this issue.

The disc dust shields had already kind of bent out of shape since when i first bought the car for my gf it had 18 inch rims. (already have stocks on it).

to check wheel bearings jack up car till the tire is off the ground. grab it at 12 and 6 oclock positions and see if there is any play. if there is, wheels bearing is out.
even if there isn't play, it may still be going out just not enough play in it to feel it.

That doesn't really sound like a bad wheel bearing though. It sounds horrible, just not like a wheel bearing.

***Update***
Got a hub from the junkyard. Once I took the old hub off I was able to verify that there was play in the wheel bearing. Changed the hub, the easiest thing to do. Used 17mm on all 5 nuts, caliper bolts included, however I did have to pick up a 32mm axle nut socket. Put everything back together, Problem is gone.
Thanks all!
