Default Dipstick??

I bought my 94 civic from a honda tech about two years ago. The car looked great and still runs pretty well. However, recently, the two front engine mounts busted. I took it to the shop and they replaced it but they noticed the dipstick was not there. I knew it wasn't there. The tech had done an engine change, not sure if it was a rebuild or a swap, to a P08-3 VTECH. However, what I didn't know was that there is a hole where the dipstick should be and it spurts oil. If I get a replacement stock dipstick for the car, will it work with the VTech engine mentioned above or will there be a fitment issue. If no, any ideas on how to make this work so I can stop Old Faithful? Thanks. I looked through the forums but I didn't see anything of use. I apologize in advance if I overlooked something.

The engine code is stamped on the block where the trans and engine meet. If this is a single cam engine it will start with a "D".

If this is a dual cam engine, it will likely start with a "B".

Examples: B16A2. D16Y8.

Different dipsticks for different motors.

Thank you for responding. I think the number you are looking for is D16Z6. Underneath that alphanumeric set was 3650170.

For a D16Z6, you should be using a dipstick for a 92-95 Civic EX or Si or a Del Sol Si or if you're looking it up by car. But I believe any 92-00 civic single cam (D series) dipstick will work.

Try looking for differences in part numbers on:
www.bernardiparts.com or www.rockauto.com

The dipsticks for 88-95 civic single cam engines *should* all be the same. But a part number check will be the sure answer.

You've been driving for two years with no dipstick?

OP, just go on ebay and find one there. I got a really nice Billet chrome dipstick there, and it fits in nice and snug, and looks pretty cool too, and it was like 10 bucks to my front door. My OEM one was rusting like crazy, and I'm damn lucky i went to replace it, because when i took it out (for the last time) to put in the new chrome one, the metal tab broke off as I was pulling it out. Just imagine a metal tab in the crankcase.
