Default Dimming Lights, depinning Alt-control pin???

Here's the problem. Lately I've been having to deal with my lights dimming under acceleration, only to have them brighten up again at 3000 rpm(which i've heard is a notorious problem, especially when switching to obd 1). After some extensive research, I read that cutting/depinning the alternator control wire would correct this. I tried it out for myself and sure enough the dimming went away. Now im just concerned with the after effects that may occur. Has anyone suffered any long term effects from this mod? Because if we didn't need this, why Honda would put it there in the first place?

btw: grounds to alternator are good, and alternator has been tested good!
