difference? jdm zc (sohc vtec) and d16z6?
as the title states, is there a difference between the jdm zc which is the sohc vtec version and the d16z6? between the block itself (not pistons and rods). what about the crank and head?
thanks

Re: difference? jdm zc (BryanLavo)
i was reading somewhere that the jdm SOHCs have stronger stock sleeves because they are comprised of different material and are layered differently. can anyone confirm this?

Re: difference? jdm zc (BryanLavo)
I did some research a while back on these engines, I'm almost positive that the bottom ends are the same. Its DOHC and I think it has like 40 more horses, For the price it didn't seem like a bad engine, but I opted to save for a LS swap.

Re: difference? jdm zc (sohc vtec) and d16z6? (BryanLavo)
I have this engine in my 95 LX Sedan and its identical to the USDM D16Z6, Stamp codes everywhere are the same except for the Engine code, which says ZC instead of D16Z6.
People forget but there are 3 ZC Engines, SOHC Non Vtec (D16A6) DOHC ZC (similar to D16A1) and SOHC ZC Vtec (D16Z6)
DOHC ZC Came obd0 and obd1 (rare, i have seen one in person)
SOHC Non Vtec ZC came OBD0
SOHC ZC Vtec came OBD1

what i know ZC & other D16 have the same block...difference is some carnkshafts & piston rods - minor...
the big differences are in head...the have the different shaped intake (the headshield gasket from D16 won't fit)...also they are different inside, when you open them & meassure them!
