difference between the us 99-00 si b16 and the jdm b16
i know the jdm one has like 168hp and 116ft/lb torque, but the redlines look the same and it is an older engine... whats different that is putting out those numbers?
what about performance wise, is the jdm one going to outperform the us one at all or by much?
can they both be chipped the same?

the jdm B16 has P30 pistons which raises the compression to 10.4:1 versues the SI b16 which has Pr3 piston and a compression ratio of 10.2:1. The mapping on the computers is different due to the fact that they get better gaS in Japan . Also the Jdm B16 is rumored to have slightly more aggressive cams . hope this helps. One more thing the SI is OBD 2 and the JDM B16 is available in either OBD 1 or 2.
good luck

does anyone know for sure if the cams are different from the usdm. My block has some issues so im swapping mine out. my friend has a jdm b16 so im gonna be using his block with my stock b16a2 usdm head. my question is would my stock head yeild the same results as a jdm head? thanks in advance

where to begin....
the whole thing really.
cams are different, valvesprings and retainers, ecu (includes vtec, redline, etc), pistons(ie. compression), to name a few. intake manifold and throttlebody maybe, i know the itr is but maybe not the ctr? oh the gears and final drive, and lsd vs non lsd equipped.

same answer
And I highly doubt the valvesprings are different. My JDM B16 had some simple single springs. No dual valvesprings or anything. Not sure about cams either. I know by the naked eye I can't determine anything but my JDM B16 cams looked pretty weak

Most likely the SIR-II since he mentioned the whole 168hsp thing. The 1st gen had like 158 or something I think
