Difference between Coupe and hatchback mufflers?
I reciently got muffler service on my 2000 Civic EX 2 Door coupe and they screwed up majorly. The centerpipe with the resonator is not the right dimensions (it was supposed to be a stock replacement), and the mounting bars that connect the pipe to the rubber mounts, appear to be 3 times as long. This pipe seems shorter, than my rusted stock one. My general question is, did this dude just get the wrong pipe? perhaps a hatch pipe? Or is he just %)&#)%&* up and I need to get my money back and go someplace else, he keeps giving me crap about how he can make it all better by using a torch and bending the pipe. This things doesn't come close to fitting, its so low, it hits the axel now on hard left turns and the resonator hits the body, rattling like tin cans......
I need some advice... arg....

I kind of figure the answer to this is yes, but is torching and bedning the muffler to work a bad idea? and does it hold effects like premature rusting and weakening, I need concrete stuff to throw at this guy, and the BBB has been notified of his buisness. It is because of that alone that he called me back and is working on it.

Coupe and hatch do have different pipe length.
Take it back, you should have gotten a warranty.

If you have a coupe then the muff is going to be LONGER than the HB muff. So whether or not they gave you the HB is a definite no. I think you should take it back or get another shop to look at it for a second opinion. Then go back and take all the **** off your car and ask for your money back. That is just ridiculous! Hope this helps.
