off the top of my head the dx gets the color coded [painted] sidemarkers, and spoiler. it also gets a rear wiper, and *maybe* power steering.
the cx has power nothing!

Correct, except for I dont know what you mean by sidemarkers. If you mean moldings those come black- Same as CX. But other than that iaredavid is correct.

CX = lighter no back windshield wiper
DX = Heavier, back windshield wiper
the DX came with more options stock such as Air con and powersteering.
the DX and CX 96-98 didnt come with power steering & air conditioning unless it was an option
Most of the DX 99-00 hatches came with powersteering, no air con unless it was optioned out.
i'm pretty sure you know about the diff between the fronts and backs of a 96-98 and the 99-00. So i wont go there..

From what I've heard:
CX: power steering optional, no air conditioning as an option, flat black short spoiler
DX: power steering and air conditioning as an option, color coded longer spoiler
CX: power steering optional, no air conditioning as an option, flat black short spoiler
