Default Did a Search, Brothers Auto car wont move!

ok guys i did a search but here is the scenario

my brothers 1994 civic lx auto starts just fine

then when he puts it into d4 it moves just fine

then after about 5 minutes (warmed up) when he comes to a stop, all of a sudden all the moving gears (R, D4, D3, D2, 1) act like neutral. They just up and stop working

then if he turns off the car and lets it sit for a while it will drive normal once again yet mess up when he comes to a stop

any suggestions?? .50 cents paypal to the person who solves this!

Check the tranny oil and see if the trans oil cooler is working.

I second that. A friends auto sounded really bad, was shifting like crap, seemed like the thing was on it's way out. Got the fluid flushed and replaced, and it runs like new!

Drain it when its hot. To flush it, you can drain and refill with fresh fluid 3 times in a row with 20 miles in between each session. But what I've seen shops actually do is cut the fuel and then crank the car with the trans plug and oil cooler hoses removed, and cough the trans fluid out.

I hope its just that and not the clutch packs slipping. You can get a TCI racing master overhaul kit for the same price as any overhaul kit, $220, and either DIY or pay someone to do it for you for a little less than the price of a rebuilt trans. Or just get a used trans for about half that and take your chance.
