Did I just buy a 2000 B16 transmission?
I just bought a used tranny off someone here on HT. i picked it up about 1 hour away from where i live. his for sale ad here on HT will be disclosed on HT until this thread is over. here's what his listing says:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by anon »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">-2000 B16 tranny (no grinds).....make offer</TD></TR></TABLE>
So i meet up with him and he shows me the tranny. I see that it does in fact say S80 and the vin verifies that it did come off an integra... DB8. now he assures me that it is a B16 tranny and even calls up his cousin to verify it. his cousin swears to me that it is in fact a B16 tranny and is willing to put $1500 on the line (sarcastically of course )
I'm not trying to dispute this like a scam situation, just a simple:
"Yes it is a b16 tranny" (followed by a short explaination?)
or
"No it is not, it's a blah blah blah"
some pics of the actual tranny that i took right after i got home (just now)
Thanks for the input guys

Re: Did I just buy a 2000 B16 transmission? (ADVAN EG2)
well considering it isn't an EM1 in the vin, it can't be a b16 tranny because b16 00 trannies were only in 99-00 SI.
This is verified by the fact that it is an american tranny and only SI had the b16 tranny.
It is most likely a LS or GSR
Not a typr r thats for sure
I can't read the damn vin, type it out and carfax it and you'll know

werd. The 99-00 Si tranny is an S4C.

VIN confirms that JH4DB858XTS000510 is in fact a GSR transmission. It came from a 1996 GSR sedan.
BTW, this thread is to show the seller that it is not a B16 tranny. I am in no way calling him a scammer.

It appears that the seller's cousin is going to have to put together $1500. I'd suggest a USPS money order.

70 miles there + 96 GSR tranny + 70 miles back + FREEWAY DEBRIS = 140 miles, wrong tranny, and PWNG(see pic below)

Re: Did I just buy a 2000 B16 transmission? (SPNFEDEJ)
working this out as we speak. the story goes:
This is not the tranny he originally wanted to sell me. He said he was selling a 2000 B16 tranny. He went to his cousin's shop to pick up the tranny then head out to our meet up spot. <U>turns out that it is not his tranny but his cousins tranny which is supposedly the same in the same condition.</U> fast version of the convo:
We meet. I say "that's an integra tranny."
him: "it's from my 00 SI"
me: "well, the vin says DB8. DB8 = 4dr integra. S80 = integra tranny also"
him calling cousin, me calling Chris from ?advance motorworks?
Chris confirms it is a integra, seller confirms from his cousin + $1500(i did not take him up on that because im not the type ) that it is a B16.
i paid $50 short and said i'd paypal him the rest if it is indeed a B16. i get all his info he gets some of mine.
What am i doing now?
since he seems/is a good guy here, he's going to call his cousin up and try to resolve this.

Granted you drove an hour to pick it up and all, but why in the hell did you accept something you knew was not what he said it was!?
Makes absolutely no sense to me...

Is it just me or did you just get a GSR tranny for 50 bucks? If so and he doesnt want to return your money turn it around and sell it for 200 and make a 150 dollar profit. Thats of course if you didnt paypal him yet.
I dont see anything wrong if he doesnt want to quarperate (sp?)
