Default Did I get a good deal on this car? 2000 swapped civic ex

I bought this car for $3k, it has a b18c1 swap. I bought it pretty quickly because it had a lot of interest on my local forum. I assume I got a good deal but I think the car has been in a previous accident, the fender doesn't line up with the door 100% on the passenger side. The paint is really good and the car drives just fine. It passed a ppi but they didnt mention noticing a previous accident at the shop.

Mods:
Complete OBD 1 GSR engine and transmission swap with 70,000 miles
Exterior is flawless and has new metallic green paint job with flake
AEM intake
Megan Header
Skunk 2 Intake Manifold
Catback exhaust
Skunk 2 coilovers
Pics:
I plan on replacing that nasty hood asap.

This is my first honda, and its pretty quick and fun to drive! any suggestions on a relatively cheap/quiet catback? The current one is pretty loud and I don't want the attention of the cops. Thanks!

Nice car, Toss the shift boot to when you toss that hood, And the ws2 is gonna be your best bet as for as a good exhaust goes. Quiet and looks nice to but is not to cheap. Any cheap exhaust you find is not gonna sound good.

Thanks for the kind words. the license plate is the PO's and he posted it on the local forum, I'm pretty sure he is just turning the plates in so no worries.

I'll look into the exhaust, I really really need a new hood. Do those exhaust silencer things I see on ebay work at all? I know its kind of ghetto, but I'd rather pay $8 than a lot more.

Also, the car came with a gsr cluster, and the original cluster, but the gsr cluster is installed and not working too well, I think I just want the stock cluster to go back in but I'm not too mechanically inclined. I did look for a writeup, but nobody wants to write about installing the original cluster, any ideas?

Thanks!

I agree, this is my first Honda, and first FWD car and I wasn't expecting it to be as much fun as it is. I bought it mainly looking for a simple daily driver that isn't boring and it fits the bill pretty well. After paying $3000 to maintain my BMW e30 the last year and a half a reliable car will be a Godsend.

Seems like a good buy, gsr swap alone is almost 3k.

That looks like a Si cluster too, not gsr. But anyways replacing it shouldn't take more than 5 mins no matter how mechanically inclined you are. Just 2 screws on the bezel at the top, then pull that out and there is 4 screws holding the actual cluster in. pretty straight forward.

Is it a harness that just plugs in the back? No splicing/wiring etc? The current cluster isnt even screwed in really ,its just kinda chilling back there, I can tap it and it moves around

In an economy such as ours, and for a car that old, you should really have gotten it for $2k, MAYBE $2.5k tops. NADA doesn't mean bull when the economy nosedives.

Can you show me an example of someone selling a similar car for $2k-2.5k? The paint is perfect, and everything works, and a previous poster pointed out the engine swap alone would run in the area of $3k.

Does anyone sell a bracket so it can fit better in the dash? The tach on it is finicky and goes to 0 at times, even during acceleration.

haha yeah that hood is so nasty, I don't know how ANYONE could think it was a good choice for the car.

I only have a few posts haha, I honestly bought this car quickly because it seemed like a decent deal and a LOT of people were interested. Maybe I'm a sucker but I figure it so many people were interested it would be a decent snag.

As the others said, don't pay this noob dumbass any attention and enjoy your new car that you got for a nice price. Not a rip off by any means. Take care of her and invest in security to help prevent theft.

Looks like you got a decent deal to me. I don't think that noob's realize that a gsr swap usually runs $2000 for the swap alone all said and done....just for the swap! It's got nice rims, and the other parts you mentioned, plus the car is in decent condition...enjoy it!!!

If i were you, source out some new oem mats, it'll clean up the look inside a lot!
