Did I fry my lifters?
I have a 93 del sol SI with the d16z6. I bought it off of a young girl(early 20's) who probably never drove it to it's potential. I do, all the time, and I love it. Lately though, I've been hearing a lot of lifter noise as I get close to 5500rpm. I was wondering if this can be taken care of with an off-the-shelf additive, or if I may have damaged a lifter. I can turn a wrench as good as some, but I'm not a mechanic because my "diagnostic " skills are non existent. Any suggestions of things to look for? Thanks in advance for any and all serious replies.

Re: Did I fry my lifters?
Thank you. I can definately see how that could help. I was planning to take off the valve cover and repaint it anyways. Good idea. Thanks.

Overhead cams do not have lifters. A lifter is a rod that lifts the rocker from an under cam. Usually seen on V8's and Diesel's etc. Overhead cams lift the rocker directly.
Your noise can be loose valve lash and also you could have noisy Lost Motion Assemblies (LMA) on the D16Z6.
