I must disagree.
No 1996-2000 Civic, EM1 or not, came with black interior.
Check out a 1992 Red Civic hatch and that is black interior. Look at the dash and door panels, not the seats since few seats are truly black when it comes to cloth Civic/Integra seats.
The "black" you refer to on the 96-00 is actually a dark grey.
In fact check the interior color code for those cars you mentioned - is it "Type D" or something else? "Type D" is true black found in many Integras and 1992-1995 Civic hatches that came in Red or Teal, also the same as 94-95 Civic EX coupes that came in Red or black.
I must disagree.

Fek, I think I knew that was the answer but didnt want to admit it to myself. The K interior is what I have, its charcoal and psuedo black Ive decided to do something about it.

Why don't you just get an EX or Si dash and put that in your car?

Thanks for clearing that up, I didn't know that. One more reason why EGs > EKs.

Re: Did any USDM 96-00 come with black interior?? (JDM-EJ1)
I have an SI. Like I mentioned its charcoal and not black, the difference is huge.
I used to be big into VW's so I know some German importers, Im trying to get some of the smaller, more likely for contact parts sent to me. What is either to big or would look better rewrapped I can upholster myself.
I'm definetly going to try and get the center console, the kick panels that run along the floor and hold the carpet down, the knee bar cover, and the glovebox imported. Theres aftermarket carpet kits that I can swap in for the carpet, then I'll rewrap my dash and door panels in leather, and my headliner in either suede or regular headliner material. The real light grey headliner plastic pieces I can spray with SEM Plastic Dye specificly for interiors.
The main reason for importing the parts I want to is there really arent clean lines to rewrap them, and feet, knees, fingers, and change will be coming in contact with them often so the dye will get scratched after a while. The dye is awesome but not OEM.

Well IMO EG>EK for various reasons, mainly price and no OBD2 hassles, but yes in the past when I've listed my reasons why the black interior was actually on my list.

Exactly. I plan on swapping a B18C into my EJ1, before I actually get it in there I need to get all the OBD1 parts. I want to keep my car OBD1. Thanks for the clarification on the dash colors!

Probably because the car stinks after you do that. After you do that.
That's why I made SURE I got a black interior on mine.

Did you dye EVERYTHING?? Ive got a grip of SEM spray kicking around, how did it turn out and how well is it lasting?? I'll pull the dash out of the car to do it, Im not concerned about that, I just dont want to spray it then a month or two later regret it.

Used SEM colorcoat and SEM adhesion promoter.
