Denso solenoid?

Denso solenoid?
What is the denso solenoid thing on the backside of the y8 IM pleneum and is it neccessary? I just bought a ported y8 manifold and the holes except for the bolt to hold it in are filled in. Do I need this thing or not. At the moment I re-routed 1 coolant line to the TB and have the solenoid plugged in and attached to the mani with no hoses going into it, but I have a cel (runs ok but not perfect).

ok cool, did i reroute the lines right? is there any way to get the cel off like schloppin a resistor into the plug or somethin ghetto like that. BTW the port job on this thing is MASSIVE and it sounds sweet!!!! Thanks for the help.

no its not but but if you look down and to the right of your hand I think that black cap is part of the thing im talking about. FYI one vac line went to throttle body and one went to coolant.

That thing you talking about is the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) and YES you really need it if you want your car to idle correctly if at all, the reason the holes are plugged on the back of your manifold is because you got an automatic manifold, (you got hosed )
the automatic has the IACV on the bottom of the throttle body and is 3 wires vs. your 2 wires

gay, is any thiing diff about the manifold, does it flow the same? Oh well I traded my old test pipe for it. Maybe I shold just port my old manifold. Damn now im pissed cause it was just a waste of time. Well i got the car to idle ok except it sputters now and then, but the real thing im worried about is it jerking when i let off the gas.
Did I do the right thing by connecting the vaccum line that went into the valve to the throttle body?

spuddering and jerking on and off idle is with no IACV
they flow exactly the same, like I said you can modify the automatic one if your up to it, or get a die grinder and port your orginal one if you really want

btw those 2 hoses that came off the IACV are both coolent lines I hope to god you diden't connect those to a vacume source, those 2 hose go like this
coolent source (near thermostat)-------throttle body------IACV--------back of block/under intake manifold (another coolent source)

Yeah i hooked em up right. I hear you can use the automatic tb and hook the 2 wires to the ecu and one to ground but would like to know for sure before i do it.

Wow I actually got this ish to run right!!! All I did was turn idle up a lil via the trottle cable adjustment. Idles smooth at 1k wich I dont mind and damn does it sound nice.

What air conditioning. worked fine with headlights. I live in minnesnowta we only need heat!
I dont think this will have any negative effect (by negative effect i mean i wont break anything) so whats so ghetto about adjusting your idle a bit so you don't need an IACV, I'll hook it up to multimeter later to figure out what makes it tick, and then i'll just make a bypass for the time being. I'll get it drilled and tapped at my local machine shop when I have my head milled. for the ghetto haterade

Yeah, like I said ill be fixing that later tonight. Bah Im not gonna argue it with you, I guess you must just be right Im really not too concerned, If she runs she runs. And CEL doesnt always mean it's not running "right" it might just mean you unplugged something. Right is in the eye of the beholder. lol like I said thread=over lets stop wasting cyber space.

im assuming you just tightened the throttle cable, right?
fix your ****
you will stretch and can break the cable like that.

yeah like the whole half millimeter is gonna make a difference. Seriously i turned the nut like a whole eigth of a rotation its fine until I get the head milled. Plus last time I checked nothing was broken so nothing needs to be fixed. I also checked to make shure the pedal stops before cranking on the TB it's fine. Thread=over If anything goes wrong I provide updates and reasons why not to do what I did. But to me ported IM > Perfect idle. (even though its fine)
