Default del Sol WOES......

MY FRIEND JUST GOT DEL SOL STOLEN. Not alot of parts were Take. ITS AN AUTOMATIC WITH THE NON VTEC MOTOR. THE BODY IS KINDA MESSED UP(stabbed with tools). THINK IT WOULD BE WORTH IT TO BUY IT OFF THEM AND REBUILD IT FOR A SWAP?? (converting it to 5spd. fixing up the body. etc..)

Please stop typing in all caps, it's really not needed. And maybe you should post some pictures in order to get a better opinion from people. You would also need to state what kind of budget you have to work with, projects take huge amounts of money and time. Not to mention, this forum isn't the best place to ask for other's opinions, especially if you're a n00b. So get us some pictures and state what you have to work with (money and material-wise).

take your losses first off its an auto so save yourself the trouble of rebuilding a theft recovery and having to chop up the floorboard just to put a stick in there.

Del Sol's are ugly and the auto- manual swap makes it too much of a hassle. Go buy a hatch shell if you want to do all that.

Del Sols are ugly? A hatch is pretty ugly too, but then again both of those are personal opinions. The original poster wasnt asking for your opinion on whether or not you like del sols, so STFU.

If the body isn't badly damage, it might be worth buy it and converting it over... or if not that then just buy it and sell the parts off of it. There are many del sol owners out there looking for replacement pieces... you wont be making bank, but you will make more than what you will be paying for it from the insurance.

I wasnt saying buy a hatch because they look better. I meant to say buy a manual trans. hatch so you dont have to worry about swapping it. I mean if the guy plans to drop in a motor and have it be a manual tranny. Then why buy a car that you have to mess around with so much. Just find a shell, be it a del sol shell, hatch shell, or whatever.

I will have time to work on this project b/c he wont be able to drive untill june 2005. Either that or ill just part the car out for my buddy

i just finished converting my Del Sol from a auto to a manual really it isn't that hard at all. I would do it for one reason because it is going to be a theft recovery and you have to have it rebuilt, buy something else. unless this is going to be strictly a race car.

If the price is cheap, I'd say buy it. Like 500.00 or less...

Somebody already brought it up, but would you buy her and part her out?
