Del Sol will not rev over 4,000 RPMs
So i'm definately starting to hate this car... Every time i fix an issue that it has... something else comes up. What are some possible reasons why it wont rev over 4,000 now? No it isnt only when it is sitting in neutral... the rpms just dont come above 4k. I've done some searching around and i've read it may be a vtec/ecu problem. Has anyone had this issue and fixed it? Please I want this pile of doo doo to stop giving me new problems every five seconds It is a 97 Del Sol Si with the D16Z6 SOHC Vtec motor.

Yeah the speedo is working properly and it runs great. the rpms climb normally to 4k then the rev limiter catches. I have 3 codes. an O2 sensor that i have to replace the crank position sensor and the evap emission is registering high. Can any of those be a cause? I was thinking maybe the crank sensor...

Re: (Bejita)
you have 3 codes that you need to fix and you ask this? why? according to the codes you just stated... it is cutting to limp mode... its doing what it should... http://www.autozone.com

This is why I hate buying used cars - you inherit all the problems the previous owner(s) laziness caused.
Fix the causes of your CEL and you should be good. Unless something else pops up - fingers crossed.
