del sol vs em1???
my first car was an em1, i got it with a blown motor and i rebuilt the motor. the car got stolen. it was a blast to drive and i loved everything about it.
i just recently sold my del sol vtec(it was also a project car like my em1) and i loved everything about it too. i am in the market to buy another car and i am having a hard time choosing between the two.
i dont think its a good idea for me to get another em1 because i dont have a garage.
i like both cars and they are both good but in differnt ways. what do you guys think i should get?
my em1
my sol

Unfortunately that's the sad truth. Plus, you've had that experience already with the EM1, so I'm sure you don't want to go through with that again. It's just sickening how quickly an EM1 can get stolen. No EM1 for you without a garage!

Try something different like an integra or someother eg/ek, and make sure you secure it with an anti-theft device so no one can start it up and take off with it.

Re: del sol vs em1??? (umair)
what made you sell your del sol? you sold it for an obvious reason - so why get another one?
i'm a fan of the em1 - i own one, i don't have a garage but i have a driveway that goes far enough behind my house that unless you come to my driveway you can't see it.... i also live on a dead end.
i would try to find a ITR or work up an ek....
my $.02

I've never driven a Sol but I've ridden in one and they can be lots of fun. I have driven an Si and they are tons of fun with out having to do a lot of work to them. My vote's for the Si just because I really want one, but that's just me.

not just any alarm if someone does take your car you can go on the internet track it till it stops and then go pick it back up with the local police. It will be well worth protecting your investments.

I am not a fan of Del sols because most of the earlier ones I've ever driven/ridden in had creaky-*** tops and they just felt flimsy.
My mom's 97 feels more solid, but it's also OBD2 which sucks if you want to modify it if you live in an emissions state.
...then again the EM1 is OBD2, and that alo9ne would keep me from ever owning one.

Nevermind. I don't feel like arguing. just understand that for those of us in emissions counties when you tune an engine on an OBD1 program it doesn't always remain code-free long enough when you hook the stock OBD2 ECU up to try and pass emissions each year.

well swap out ecu and injectors in parking lot. pass emissions, put back in

Nice try, but that doesn't work.
OBD2 vehicles must be driven 2 drive cycles (roughly two days worth of driving) before the ECU will even communicate or be "ready" for the emissions equipment.
By the time you drive those two drive cycles it will usually code. If it doesn't code then hurry up and have the emissions done.
I don't like to leave that crap to chance once a year.

I think that you should get neither, maybe consider a non Honda. If you're limiting your choices to just the two cars that you know so well, you will be back to what you started with... blowing motors, car thief victim, projects galore, selling, back on h-t asking us again what to get

Re: del sol vs em1??? (umair)
yeah.. del sol will be my choice.... really fun car.. and girls like it.. so if you do not have a garage.. kick out your em1 and get a del sol.. or get a garage and keep both..
