Default del sol type-r urethane front lip

hey guys

i was looking at this dope lip at jdmcarboy.com and was thinking about ordering one online... i just wanted to make sure that urethane was the good kind of material for a lip... its plastic i want to stay away from right?

they have a couple of del sol lips, but i like the type r best because its the simplest... kind of an exagerated honda lip

http://www.jdmcarboy.com/index...d=210

only 79.99 too, well +45 shipping but im in LA so im just going to pick that bad girl up! urethane good yah?

thanks,
~styol

(p.s. i posted this exact message in automotiveforums but obviously this site gets more hits so i re-posted it here)

a happy customer tells 2 people and an angry customer tells 20

im gonna give them a try and ask them WTF all this non sense i hear about how shady they supposedly are... i talk to the owner on the phone and i definitely didint get the same vibe that people apparently got when they ordered

is it possible that they shaped up and got on top of their ****? or am i still missing something here... please dont tell me that its like a couple posts from 3 years ago or something lol, for all i know its some other shop trying to take away from their business by defaming them

I just bought JDM style 6-8 fogs, Mugen style lip(poly), and an OBD2a to obd1 conversion harness from them today... i hope i have good results... and Poly is WAY better than plastic... its really hard to break... its good if you plan on maybe scraping some speed bumps, I DO

is there anything i can do to prevent scraping? after i put the urethane lip on i was planning on re-painting my entire car including the lip, and i want to prevent future scrapage

i was thinking something along the lines of "skid plates" but after searching for like an hour i found out that skid plates are primarily offered for ATV's and bikes... any other ideas?

If you don't want to scrape, don't drop your car so low

but its so purrty! lol... i think im going to have to custom fab some skid plates.. ive got an idea in mind, just gonna require precision cutting a decent thing metal or something

i mean my cars not -that- low, but sometimes some driveways are just a lil too steep and i just dont want to scrape of my new paint when i get it

I had an idead for a steel skid late the riveted into the bumper and was fluted parrallel to the direction the car travels. THe flute would greatly reduce the chance of it folding under.

I thought it was ingenious, just enough to be hidden and prtect the lip/oilpan.

EDIT: just re-read your post, and i realize that you were maybe just mentioning your idea too lol.. doh! and whats a flute thing you speak of...

A flute is really a medieval armor making technique to make metal more rigid IE less prone to bend or dent.

It's the lines you see in armor

fluting isn't all that hard. But yeah...

I like to hit people for a hobby. Hence the protective gear.

I make a lot of armor, I haven't really done any non-armor fab work.

I haven't had time lately with work and all.
