Re: Del Sol seats 1997 vs 1998? (jdmeg6118)
Actually the last production of the Del Sol was in 1998 in other countries, not USA.
I'll just have to look at a 97 since the immediate responses were no help.
Thanks

Not true, my completely OEM 95 red Del Sol had a gray stripe and my friends 94 black Del Sol had red.

Hey hey now, many people underestimate that stipe. Honda was wondering why they had NOT ONE SINGLE vehicle sale those years, they then found out that the stripe added minimum of 150HP, which caused people to ONLY buy those seats. Why do you think they did away with it?

Was it an S?
Here are the colors differences for del Sol seats in the US. The stripe is based on the color of the car of course.

Here's a better explanation:
And by the seat style instead of exterior color:

So for example, the black, red and white del Sols for '93-'95 had the red stripe unless they came from a del Sol S.

So apparently all 96-97's came with Graphite Black seats, eh? Man, I really love those. Had them in my 93 S and they seduced me every time I sat in them...

I really like these seats in my civic since it sits lower and is much more comfortable than the original seats. However they are torn and need to be reupholstered badly. I'm thinking of going vinyl.

I like Vinyl because it's more durable than cloth and it simply looks more expensive. Cloth just looks cheap to me. Everyone has their own preferences.
I put black vinyl by my hand on the center console & both door panel armrests. The shift boot & e-brake handle are both black leather which I also put on by hand. You simply can't distinguish the vinyl from the leather unless you look at the stitching.

Most cars come stock with vinyl, and if you do any sort of "upgrade" you get cloth seats.
So that kind of tells me a lot as to the material hierarchy
I hate vinyl. It doesn't breathe well! If you live in any remotely hot climate vinyl sucks!

Re: (OblivionLord)
I shudder at the memories of sitting in dad's '87 S-15 with a black vinyl bench seat when i was a kid. I think i still have burn marks on the back of my legs. And this is atlantic canada, I can't even imagine a place like california or florida. That truck was the most basic thing GMC made i think 4cyl 4 speed manual, 2wd, no power steering, no AC, AM radio (never worked either, neither did the heater). So yeah, theres some corrolation between vinyl and base model.

Absolutely. And it's your car so of course, do whatever the fawk you want
Although I have to say, I can't stand vinyl. Maybe because it reminds me of my dad's old '84 Chevy pickup or my buddy's 91 Civic STD, I can't get it out of my head that vinyl seats are the epitome of low quality, economy, and the need to stand up to children and such spilling juice over the seats. Most importantly, I can't stand sliding around on vinyl/leather--I need cloth to hold me in. That's why racing seats aren't wrapped in vinyl, they use grippy fabrics like suede There's also the issue of insane swamp-*** from driving on vinyl seats in hot weather
