Del Sol S or Si?
Sorry for the lame question, but I don't know much about the del sol. Just the basics.
I know, roughly the S is just a DX. And an Si is an EX (motor-wise). I'd go del sol vtec but I prefer lower insurance rates and swappin in a B18C in a lower base model.
So, I'm asking does ALL del sol models have the removable top? power locks and steering? Those are the options I really care about, screw a/c and p/s, but I know the Si's have power steering and air conditioning...Thanks in advance.
Soon to be a new proud del sol owner.

You are correct about the S being comparable to a DX, and Si comparable to EX.
All Sols have the targa and power windows. The S does not have power locks, but Si's from 95-97 did hae power locks. The S doesn't have power steering,; the Si does.

Re: Del Sol S or Si? (r0guish)
The insurence rate difference is marginal at best. I when i checked into mine there was a small difference not like the difference between civics models.
BTW mine is an SI and dosent have air, it has power steering tho, I have seen the S series with air conditioning. It really depended on what option the original owner wanted with the car I guess.

if your concerned about insurance..
just buy a used Del Slo from some old lady who never took the top off for cheap money and do your swap..
i don't know about an ex being like and SI though??? (if your talking 99-00 si)there a lot of differences.. engine, tranny, rear disc brakes, cluster, shifter, different front grill, rear sway bar, seats, front upper strut bar

get an 's' if you're gonna swap. they are lighter. my 93 's' had a/c, no p/s, no power locks (easy as hell to add with an alarm). After I swapped my H in, it weighs in at 2285 with 1/4 of gas, no driver, no ac (lost in the swap), full interior + big amplifyer + tools. I like not having p/s, not necessary for a light car. IMO, the only advantages to the si are rear discs and power mirrors, but it comes at the price of 150 lbs or so over the 's'.

they are talking about the del sol Si being like the 92-00 Ex model and the 92-95 Si model. SOHC vtec engine, power windows, p/s, a/c(optional), rear discs(optional on ex, only came with ABS), they were not comparing the 99-00 Si.

Re: Del Sol S or Si? (egcoupe94)
Ok everyone, thanks for the input: I've made my choice. Black Del Sol Si, very clean no dents, cracks, comes with spoiler, a/c, p/s, power locks, windows, cd player and considerably low miles. The price is a little higher than I thought, but it's ok I need a new daily driver.
My old daily driver (95 civic dx coupe) was totaled bout a month ago and I've been driving my brother's del sol si (which is why I want one now) and sometimes my "weekend" driver (95 civic lx sedan with modded JDM B18C(1) swap), so you can see why I'm rushing. The money isn't really the issue, it's time and there are little del sols in the area.
So thanks again, all comments were appreciated.

****, if I were getting a sol, I would trade up 150 lbs for rear discs. Trust me, you'll end up wanting them and it's just easier to start with them and not have to worry about converting them later.
Plus with an si, you don't NEED to swap the engine, instead turbo it, tune it, and spank all the others with b16's.

Re: Del Sol S or Si? (WildPig)
Yes, I love my new baby. I just picked it up today (had to get full coverage and was 140 a month, but I'ma shop around and switch insurance companies REAL soon)
I just took pix and will try to get some up (no digital camera and it was cloudy outside, so don't know how they'll come out).
Edelbrock makes a legal turbo for this car and makes more power to the wheels than GSR motors, something like 170 whp. I love my GSR motor in my other car, but this legal turbo has something to consider...but don't know yet. It's too early to tell, since for the time being it's my computer car (I'll be graduating on the 28th! Tomorrow's my last day of classes!).
Thanks again everyone, now I need to get out there, drive my newly found love and buy a tie.

Re: Del Sol S or Si? (93ejay1)
Del Sol S ('93-97) comes with a D15 (comparable to the DX/LX models - engine-wise '92-95)
Del Sol Si ('93-97) comes with a D16 (comparable to the EX models '92-95)
Del Sol VTEC ('94-97) comes with a B16 (comparable to the Civic Si '99-00)
That I know for sure.

Eh? A/C was a dealer installed option across all Del Sols - unlike, say, a 96 Civic Coupe EX, which came from the factory with air. Other dealer installed options were the normal stuff - CD changer, floor mats, etc.

Close, but engines changed in 96.
