del sol rookie needs help
i just got a great deal on a 93 del sol s. i got it for 50 bucks from my dads salvage yard. it needs a hood head light and fog lights. i would like to find a cheaper aftermarket hood or at least cheaper than carbon fiber. Latest news im having the front end straigtened and as soon as my truck sales im jotech is swaping a gsr motor into it. does anybody know how much new roof seals cost? my dad also has an integra with the complete break system. exactly wich parts would i need to switch the brakes over.

Re: del sol rookie needs help (blake06_)
good find blake.. well what engine is it a dohc vtec engine or a sohc vtec engine? both are relatively bolt in.. but the sohc is way easy with a little re-wiring.. while the dohc vtec install may reguire some wiring and different mounts..shifter rod
good luck.. oh yeah don't mind 98htbk

lol...oddly...you DIDNT get flammed...this is odd...i think the first guy was a lil harsh with his wording...ANYWAYS...since is a del sol...uhmm...i have no advice at all....gsr is good...try to get with LSD...uhmmm...with that money...just go crazy with your internals...uhm....i would try to make your car look acceptable and sell it for a 5th gen hatch...but...HEY! gsr is good. del sol can be fast...if u want tips...look at that other forum "making a del sol fast" thats all i got for you. later
EDIT: i did crappy on the grammar...i sound like a fob...hahaha...oh well

Keep your sol...you have the lightest platform as far as the sol's go. Are you planning to stay n/a or go the forced route? Does the salvage yard have any other sols? I need the center console part that contains the radio. Good luck.
BTW: Do not worry about that "how to make del sol's fast" thread, it is all just crap talking. I have my sol going 12.8's with only about 3500 into my engine. It does help that my friend has a shop though

Re: del sol rookie needs help (blake06_)
You've got the base model del Sol, which from a positive standpoint is the lightest from the factory. However, it also has a SOHC non-VTEC engine, which is irrelevant as you're looking to swap in a DOHC VTEC.
You should read and learn more about the car, and don't throw money away on having someone else do the swap. Its easy enough, and give that your family has a junk yard (?) you likely have access to a bunch of neato tool (engine hoist, etc). With the money you save on the labor, you can add some more mods to the brakes and/or suspension, or go a little bit further and go with a Type R swap instead of the GSR. That would be killer.
Above all, doing the swap yourself means you'll get to learn a bunch about your car!
HTH, and good luck.

Re: del sol rookie needs help (stevecockrill)
Oh, and I forgot. Since you have a 93, you might want to look into investing in new weather seals especially for the roof. These were redesigned in 95 and will eliminate potential leakage problems. Look at the link in my sig for part numbers and info (MENU to SET UP to GENERAL link).

Re: del sol rookie needs help (blake06_)
what all mods did you do to your engine?
With the swap- the possibilities are endless but it costs alot more to get there.
With the turbo- with a quick 3-4k you can have yourself a 200+whp monster
It's all about what you plan to do with the car, daily drive? track? drag?
Just some questions you should answer.

Re: del sol rookie needs help (blake06_)
just look around at junk yards for a hood, but most likely the hood won't be in best of shape so it probably would need some TLC...or u could just go to the honda dealer and get one but those r quite spendy...as far as the motor goes i think that probably would bolt right in

What color of del sol did u get? I have the stock hood from a 94 granada black del sol. Its not perfect condition but not bad at all. I will be willing to sell if u make an offer. I am in TX also, it says u r from farmersville im pretty sure that isnt a real town but NEwayz. Let me know something man whether ur car is black or not.
