del sol RHD CONVERSION, HELP!
I am about to begin my rhd conversion on my del sol and my father has this idea of using a plasma cutter to remove the fire wall's as opposed to drilling out the spot welds.. anyone ever herd of doing this?

is there any benefits to drilling the spot welds as apposed to plasma cutting or do they both do the same job just different methods

How experience is your dad with welding? If he's good than by all means go right ahead with the plasma cutter. You'll be cutting a good chunk from your car, but if he's good with welding the firewall on and can prevent it from rust than go for it. If not drill out the spot welds and do the same for the rhd firewall, drill out the spot welds. Align everything up, probably use spot welds as a guilde, and than just retack the original spot welds plus a little more for safety. My personal experience its best not to rush this kind of project, do it once and do it right.

yeah were not trying to rush it we def want to do it right the first time but we got to thinking and it just seemed to make more sense to use the plasma cutter to remove the firewalls and have them welded in place seems like its it will be cleaner, safer and less of a headache plus we have the tools available

yes he was talking about overlapping and welding the firewall in place my only concern is warping or damaging the firewall when cutting it out i know it will work otherwise and be stronger if anything cause it will be welded inside and car and in the engine bay

GL with that man. Its not my way personally but as long as you are doing it on level ground and everything is aligned before welding. Just hope it doesn't warp afterwards.
