del sol questions
Idk where i should post this so i posted it here if i'm in the wrong place please don't be a dick just let me know and i'll delete it and post it somewhere else thanks. But i am looking into buying a del sol and i found one that's at a dealership its a 1994 idk if its an si or what idk if its stick or not all i know is its black in pretty good condition and its completly stock with 180000 miles on it. The guy said $2800 would take it off the lot but if i wanted to do payments it would be around $3400 or something, my question is is $2800 good for a del sol with that many miles and in good condition? Even if its automatic and the base model.

Re: del sol questions
There's no way it's worth $2800 with it being a 1994 with 180,000 miles on it. I bought my 1993 del Sol Si with 158,000 miles on it for $2200. Blue book value was $24XX.
Find out all details about the car, and go to kbb.com to look up the real value (good condition category). Then print out the paper and shove it in the salesman's face and make him feel shameful for trying to steal a little money from you.
The only way it's worth that is if it's a del Sol VTEC (with the B16A3), and I highly doubt it is.

Re: del sol questions
it said blue book value was worth more then $2800 if its from a dealer. but private party sale wasn't even close to it

Re: del sol questions
oh
that's stupid, what the hell makes it worth more from the dealer?
anyway, what model is it?
if it's a well maintained purely stock del sol it's probably worth buying

Re: del sol questions
its completly stock its either an si or its the b16 model idk i forgot to look at the motor what do the b16 model's tach go to? this tach stopped at 8 grand. But its got a little rust on the passenger quarter panel, the driver seat is starting to rip in the usual spot and the driver door panel is ripped like where you sit your arm and the tire's wouldn't pass inspection. Other then that its just little dings and paint fading. And yea from a dealer its like a grand more on kbb then private party sale.

Re: del sol questions
if the tach stopped at 8k, then it should be a del Sol VTEC (B16A3)... that is, unless someone swapped the clusters out.
I think it's worth it, those are hard to find. Just pop the hood next time and if it's DOHC it's the del Sol VTEC.

Would you buy a '94 del Sol VTEC for $2800 yourself? I wouldn't. The motor might be on its last leg for all you know. A dead (non-drivable) del Sol VTEC is not worth that much, IMO.

Re: del sol questions
oh i thought you meant redline, idk why
umm, well if it stops at 8k it's not the "VTEC" model.
The Si stops at 8.5k, I just went outside and looked for you, and I looked at a picture of the S and it stops at 8.5k as well.
S has 6600 redline, Si has 7200 redline.

Re: del sol questions
yea i highly doubt i'll get the sol unless he will lower the price ALOT cause it need's to much sutff, tire's new wheels cause these look like they have been curbed atleast a hundred times each. new driver seat door panel rust repair some random interor piece that is by the e brake. its just not worth it. But there's a red ek hatch sitting in this person's yard thats been there since before christmas so i might try to talk to them and see if they would get rid of it. Thanks for the help guys
